Catering Advice - The Smoking Ban in the UK 1st July 2007
The smoking Ban is nearly here within the UK, starting on July 2007. There are many things that have to be looked at with regards to letting people smoke outside and the 50% rule. So what’s going to happen, are you going to lose Business.
Stop thinking LOSE and start thinking GAIN
There are loads of people that will be looking to start drinking in outlets once the ban hits, 55% of women between the ages of 35/55 have said that they will be looking for a place to drink. Surely now is the time to start marketing ideas for this group. Can you think of things to do for the customer that goes outside by the street to smoke, maybe ash trays on the walls and sighs informing people to please stay quite and tidy up after themselves. Increase your food menu is going to be a must as more people will be coming out to eat. If you don't do food maybe you could put a leaflet together of take aways with discounts for your customers that will deliver to your outlet, or let people go and get their food and bring it into your business.
There are really loads of ideas that can be put into practise for the start of July, and you will see that more people will come and see what you are doing to bring in their trade, then you just have to keep them there.
